Obituary of George Davis

George Davis, 64, of Cortland passed away June 5, 2015 after remaining strong while living with cancer for the past several years. He was born February 9, 1951 in Oneida NY, and was a kind, caring, and proud father of 3 sons and 7 grandchildren.
George grew up in Hamilton, NY until 1965, when his family relocated to Cortland where he graduated from Cortland High School in 1969. George was employed at Champion Sheet Metal, Salisbury Fire Apparatus, Carrier Transicold, and most recently retired from Borg Warner of Ithaca. He also enjoyed driving his Miata and attending car club events where he received several awards. He was an involved member of the Cortland Celtic Cultural Association, and was the Celtic Festival's official leprechaun.
He is survived by his sons Brian (JJ) Davis of Flower Mound, Texas with their 2 daughters Brenna and Carli, Tim (Ashley) Davis of Cortland, New York with their son Elliott and daughter Isla, and Joshua (Suzanne) Davis of Lititz, Pennsylvania with their 2 daughters Brynleigh and Calla, and son Greyson.
George was predeceased by his parents John and Calla Davis, as well as sisters Deanna Keenan and Jacqueline Davis.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-5:45 pm followed by a funeral service to begin 6 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A private burial will be held at the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.
