Raymond Davis Jr., 91, of Cortland NY passed away with his family at his side Monday, June 8th after a brief illness. He was born March 4th, 1924 in Amesbury, Massachusetts. A veteran of WW2 and former volunteer firefighter he retired from U.S. Steel in Fairless Hills, PA. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge & VFW. He is well known for his corny jokes that he made you initially believe was a true story. He was active until the last days of his life & could often be found making useful household wood projects or cutting the grass. He enjoyed his time spent at the Homer Senior Citizens Center & Mclean Community Church. He endured and conquered several health issues in his later years and because of his strong fight his children affectionately nicknamed him “Ironman”. He is survived by his wife Jean Davis of 66 years, Daughter Sharon Gorman of Fremont NH, Sons Paul of Boynton Beach, Fl, Michael of Bristol, Pa, Gary of Orlando, Fl. & Geoff of Cortland, NY. He also had 15 grandchildren & 20 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the McLean Community Church 50 Church St. McLean,NY Funeral services will be begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Carter officiating In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Homer Senior Citizens Center.
