Obituary of Mary L. McMillen

Mary L. McMillen 88, formerly of Cortland passed away June 16, 2015, in Concord, New Hampshire. She was born March 24, 1927, in Cortland, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel and Eva Secaur Greenfield of Cortland. Mary graduated from Cortland High School in 1945. Soon after she married her late husband Burr McMillen and made their home and raised their family in Cortland. Over the years she had worked at Steven's Diner and Johnny's Drive in. She was a member of the Cortlandville Grange and RSVP. Mary was proud of her cooking and won the Cortland Standard Recipe Contest. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Mary dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her extended family. Mary is survived by her sons, Gary A. McMillen and his wife Arlene of Las Vegas, NV and Roger B. McMillen and his wife Marie of Bow, NH. Also by her grandchildren Greg McMillen and his wife Shara of Parker, CO, Garred McMillen of Denver, CO,Timothy McMillen and Karen Bergquist of Bow, NH, Elizabeth McMillen and her partner Tracey Crane of Manchester, NH, and Catherine Chapman and her husband Evan of Canton, MA. And one great-grandson Storm McMillen of Parker, CO and nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Burr R. McMillen and a grandson Gary A. McMillen. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland, NY 13045. Burial will follow at the Scott Union Cemetery, Homer, NY.
