Guy A. Post (aka Sly Guy) born May 11, 1948 born in Syracuse, New York passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9th, 2015 in his Cortland home. Guy worked at APEX for over 30 years as a machine press and jack of all trades. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Cortlandville Fire Department for over 30 years. His career there included being promoted to Lieutenant twice and a stint in the fire police operation. He is predeceased by his parents, Guy A. Post Sr. and Mae Post of Cortland, sister Christina Rogers of Tennessee and husband William, as well as sister Jennifer Putnam, and sister in law Robin Post. Guy is survived by his loving wife Sylvia (Jean) Post. He is also survived by his siblings: Ida Wing of Cortland, brother-in-law Leroy of Cortland, Charles Post of McGraw, John Post and wife Jan of Cortland, Mary Pendergast and husband Gary of Cortland, Richard Post of Cortland, Rose Nicholson and husband Bruce of Mcgraw, and Robert Post of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his five endearing children; Smyrna (Post) Brown and husband Kevin Brown of Kentucky, Rebecca (Post) Benjamin and husband Dale Benjamin of Cortland, Lisa (Post) Wormuth and husband Terry Wormuth II of Cortland, Joseph Post of Cortland, and Glen Post of Cortland. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, one great-child and one on the way, as well as his dog Kharma and 2 cats named Smoky and Lucky. He is not only survived by family members, but also through the life he lived as a hardworking, adventurous, New York Yankee admiring, outdoor appreciating, joke cracking, always caring, family loving man.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery
Friends are invited to call from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm prior to the service.
