Thurlow Yale Cowles, 75, of Otisco, NY, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, August 10, 2015, while surrounded by his family at home.
Born March 10, 1940 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Yale and Edna Cowles.
He graduated from Tully High School in 1957 and went on to complete one year of study at Practical Bible Training School in Binghamton, NY.
He returned home to Otisco to partner with his father on the farm that his grandfather started in 1917.
He loved his Lord, served his family, honored his country, and was a good steward of the land. He was a dedicated husband, father and farmer. He served faithfully for many years as a church Sunday School teacher and deacon.
He won the NY State "Super" Milk Award for 25 consecutive years for excellence in milk quality. He also won cattle showmanship, milk production, and agricultural conservation awards. He was a member of the national and state Holstein Associations and Onondaga County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alyce Stevens Cowles of Otisco, and four children, Stacy (Brett) Keefer of Quakertown, PA, Stephen of Otisco, Jonathan (Lydia) of Otisco, and Rebekah of Lansdale, PA, and 3 grandchildren, Boaz, Abigail and Anna Cowles.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 14 at Dresserville Bible Baptist Church, 6339 Crofoot Road, Moravia, NY 13118, where he was a member. The graveside service will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Navarino, NY. Family and friends may call Thursday evening, August 13 from 4-7 p. m. at Dresserville Bible Baptist Church.
