Obituary of John L. Wright

John L. Wright of Cortland, NY died August 15, 2015. He was born the first son of Leslie E. and Mary V.H. Wright in La Crosse, WI, on December 29th, 1935. He is survived by Jeannine, his wife of the last 47 years, a son Mark (Efland, NC) and a daughter Sharon, her husband Mark Graszko and their daughter Emily (Knightdale, NC). Also surviving is his brother James (New Woodstock, NY) and his family. Following graduation from Cazenovia Central School (Class of 1954) he attended Antioch College and later received a BS degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and a MA degree from Empire State College. He is a retiree of Cortland County Highway Department where he did civil engineering work and had previously been employed in the engineering department at Pall Corporation in Cortland. Work with the local Boy Scout troop and assisting his wife on the Cortland Fire Department Auxiliary are some examples of his community service. An accomplished photographer in his younger years his later hobby was amateur radio and had been a member of the Skyline Amateur Radio Club. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Wednesday evening 5:00-7:00 PM.
