Dorothy M. Williams, 87 of Cortland passed away on November 26, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 31, 1928 in Cortland, she was the daughter of Harry and Florence (Gerard) Young. Dorothy attended St. Mary’s School graduating in 1945. She then attended Cortland State earning her M.A. in 1948. Dorothy taught school until the birth of her first child. She was devoted to her husband and family. She had a tremendous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and contagious laugh. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Earl Williams of 60 years; her sister Shirley Reif of Manlius, NY; daughters, Jane (Mark) Jenney, Mary Manning, Barb (Benjamin) Field, Carol Williams, Anne Bean (Scott Becker); sons, Paul (Mary Beth), John, and Robert (Roxanne); 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Elizabeth Cox in 2013. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland, burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
