Jean C. Martin 79, of Preble passed away December 26, 2015 at her home. She was born February 10, 1936, daughter of James and Elspet Cruickshank of Cortland, New York. She graduated from Cortland High School Class of 1954. She was a member of Preble Congregational Church and served as Preble Town Clerk for two terms through 1997. Jean enjoyed making others happy by sharing her gifts of knitting, painting, cookies and chocolates. She especially enjoyed the companionship of her cats and sheep. Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Richard H. Martin (Preble her children Lori ,Scott (Cynthia),Gregory (Susan), her loving sister Jessie Giangiobbe (Syracuse); three grandchildren, Keith, Nia, and Bryn, and one great grandchild Riley Scott. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 30th from 4-7 p.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland.
