I posted the following notice on Facebook.I am passing on some sad news Cortland Alumni and members of the Campus Christian Association. Rev Jack Hepfer passed away. For more information and to leave message of sympathy see the Wright Beard Funeral Home. I got information from a friend that saw the Obit in the Cortland Standard. Jack was campus minister at the Interfaith Chapel when Gwen and I lived there as student caretakers. I remember going to a church in Groton to pick pews for the Interfaith Chapel with Jack and others. He led retreats and later services at the chapel which certainly affected my faith. He was a man that had a deep faith in Christ but believed God did not bar other religions. Jack was man that put his faith into action. He lead trips to Central America and served Christ in many ways. Rev. Hepfer's leadership of the Campus Christian Association and the Interfaith Group made students feel that they had a family and home away from home. Our discussions would open my mind to new way of thinking about religion and God. My politics made a dramatic change during that period of time. Letting new ideas into your thinking was an important part of the college experience. Jack was important guide to new territory of thinking to so many students at Cortland. He will be missed at our reunions. There will be a memorial service in the spring.
Love to my fellow Cortland friends.
Clay
