Thaddeus “Tedd” Wakula, 85, formerly of Wadsworth St., Cortland, passed away February 16, 2016 at the Cortland Regional Nursing Facility. Mr. Wakula was born April 15, 1930 in Carbondale, PA the son of the late Frank and Sophia Zybura Wakula.
Mr. Wakula retired from NY Telephone after 37 years. He had faithfully served his country with the US Air Force. He was an avid bowler and had been inducted into the Seven Valley Assoc. Hall of Fame. Throughout the years he had enjoyed participating in several local leagues and tournaments.
Tedd also enjoyed working with his hands wood crafting beautiful items for his family. Photography and long scenic drives with his wife.
Mr.Wakula is survived by his two daughters; Thadine (Carl) Collier III of Auburn and Vickie (Michael) Walczak of Cortland. One son Christopher (Sherry) Wakula of Waterloo Five grandchildren; Jennifer (Wesley Wright) Collier, Kathryn Collier, Kerstein (Rich) Bishop ,and Nicholas Wakula. His great grandchildren; Kayli, Damon, Natalie, Nevin, Makyla, Hannah and Jaxson. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Wakula was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Iva M. Wakula February 20, 2011, his grandson Brandon Wakula and his sisters; Anna and Mary and brothers; Walter, Frank, Emil, Joseph, and Leon
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 12:00- 2:00PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. Interment with military honors will take place in the spring in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Groton.
