Gretta D. Northup 74, of Virgil, passed away April 7, 2016 in Cortland Park Nursing Facility. Gretta was born August 16, 1941 in Summerville, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Jennie Crowder Ingram. Gretta loved the outdoors, quilting, knitting and tending to her gardens and plants. She was an active member of the Parkside Assembly of God Church, and loved taking care of children. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Jay Northup Jr. of Virgil, her children Jay (Laurie) Northup of Virgil, Scott (Patricia) Northup of Awendaw, SC., Karen (Michael Predmore) Northup of Candor , Joan Northup Jorden of East Rochester, Pennsylvania , 12 grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren several nieces nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents Gretta was predeceased by brothers William, Blaine, Larry and Reginald Ingram, and sister Ruth Lake. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at the Parkside Assembly of God Church on Homer Ave. Friends are invited to call from 10:00 am to 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gretta’s name may be directed to the Parkside Assembly of God Church 78 Homer Ave. Cortland, NY 13045 Interment will be in Virgil Cemetery.
