Obituary of Jane Wayman Zogg

Jane Wayman Zogg, 89, of Cortlandville, passed away April 12, 2016 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1926, the daughter of the late Dr. Leon and Isabel Dix Wayman. Born and raised in Oneonta, NY, Jane attended Northfield School for Girls in Mount Hermon, MA. Following high school she attained a degree in Elementary Education at Syracuse University and Oneonta State. Once in Cortland, she taught 2nd grade at Owego Street School. Eventually, she chose to stay at home to care for her family. Jane loved to travel and was a well known local artist, concentrating on pastural scenery. She helped establish the Cortland Art League and the Aid to Women Victims of Violence for Cortland County. Jane's family will remember her as a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Alfred Valentine Zogg Jr., her children Julia C. Zogg, Carl J. (Leslie) Zogg, Richard M. Zogg, Laura Z. (Charles) Cloud, Diana Z. (Dirk) VanPatten, her grandchildren Brent, Steven, Marissa, Lindsay, Eric, Lauren, Madison, Andrew, Avi, Elan, and Andrea, eleven great grandchildren, her brothers Dr. J. Dix Wayman, Dr. R. Douglas Wayman, nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Jane's life will be held Saturday 11 am at the United Presbyterian Church of Cortland. Burial will follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home of Cortland is serving the family. Contributions may be made to United Presbyterian Church of Cortland.
