Obituary of Maria Endress

Maria Margaret Endress, 90, formerly of East Randolph, NY, passed away Monday, May 9th, 2016 at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 10, 1926, in Randersacker, Germany the daughter of George and Hilda Horn. She married her beloved husband, Herman Endress, on October 28, 1950, in Wurzburg, Germany. In 1952, she was sponsored by a cousin and she and her husband came to the United States. She spent three months in NYC working as a seamstress in the garment district before moving to South Dayton, NY. In 1955 they moved to East Randolph to raise their family. For most of her life she ran a seamstress business out of her home. She was also employed by the Randolph Children's Home until retirement. Maria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She instilled her love and high moral values in all her children, and grandchildren. Each one of them looked up to her as a role model. Her message to them was always "work hard, care and give to others; love your family above all." She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She is survived by three children: Michael (Danette) Endress of Cortland, Herman (Jody Prezioso) Endress of Cortland, and Karen (John) Cowan of Cortland: 6 grandchildren: Cody (Rachel) Endress, Danielle (Reggie Stanley) Endress, Emily and Sarah Endress, Jason (Savannah Hempstead) Cowan, Jennifer (Ryan Bilodeau) Cowan and 5 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Herman Endress, a sister, Frieda Schenk of Germany and a brother, Karl Horn of Germany. Keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial burial service will be held at the East Randolph Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Whispering Pines for her care.
