Obituary of Luella B. Gay

Luella B. Gay, age 85 of Cortland, passed away peacefully at home on 9/6/2016.Born in New Hope, NY she was the daughter of Gordon and Martha Badman.
She attended a one room country school prior to moving on to Moravia High School and then to the former Cortland Business Institute where by chance and fortune she met her husband of 66 years, W.Sanford Gay, who survives her.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother , quick with a smile and a nurturing hand. A retired employee of the Cortland School System, she will be remembered as the secretary of F.S. Barry School where she touched the lives of hundreds of students over her many years there.
She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cortland serving as deacon and member of “Presbyterian Women”.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Scott(Terry) Gay, Brian(Kathy)Gay,three grandchildren, Marisa(Steven) Zogg, Joshua( Becky) Gay, Jonathan(Abigail) Gay as well as six great grandchildren, Steven, Barrett and Annabelle Zogg ,Hannah, Andrew Gay and Kaylee Gay….also her first cousins, Verna(Bill) Freeman, Gene Clark, Joyce Gardner and Avis Reagan.
Calling hours will be at Wright -Beard Funeral Home on Sunday 9/11/16 from 2 to 4 P.M. A funeral service will be held at The United Presbyterian Church ,25 Church St. Cortland, on Monday 9/12 at 11:00 A.M.
