Robert E. "Bob" Moore, 86, of Cortland passed away November 3, 2016 with family by his side. He was born September 18, 1930 in Scranton PA, the son of the late Harry and Irene Brewer Moore. Bob was raised and educated in Elmira graduating from Elmira High School, then went onto H.R. Automobile Mechanic School. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948-1952 and was honorably discharged. After serving his country he was employed with Smith Corona, Remington Rand, and then returned to Smith Corona until retiring in 1984. He attended the Memorial Baptist Church and most recently Emmanuel Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting. His true love was his family, especially in recent years caring and visiting his late wife Shirley. He is survived by his sons David Moore, Andrew (Rhonda) Moore, Rev. James (Elizabeth) Moore, his grandchildren Jayson, Jeffrey, Stephanie, and Jacqueline, great granddaughter Azalia, his sister s Betty Aiken, Marilyn (Dan) Golden, Pat McCartney, Shirley Bradley, along with nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Shirley Moore, his son Timothy Moore, his siblings Charlotte Root, Billy Moore, Marjorie Cook, Chuck Moore, and Harold Moore.. A calling hour will be Wednesday 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
