I have had the pleasure of knowing Jim for many years. Always at Snowbird, although we did try to get together a few times in the summer when I was back on Otisco Lake. Jim and I both loved SU sports and would always talk about how good or bad we were playing. To Jim's family, I'm sorry to hear of his death, but as you all know he lived life to the fullest. Jim always greeted me with a smile. Jim will be greatly missed. God bless my ski/SU buddy. Until we meet again.

James was a well respected skier at Snowbird and will be missed. We always had great conversations in the tram line after he found out that I was from Central New York as well. I also felt so bad for him when he lost his wife, which was his beloved ski partner. I will pass the word around the Bird that James has left us for better powder. My sympathy to his whole family. He sure was loved by all. He had a great life in business and was admired by many for the positive vibes he carried at Snowbird.
Sorry for your loss,
Chris Bedford

I just learned of Jim's passing and am very sad. I've know him about 20 years since I started working/skiing Snowbird, he always said come over to the wine and cheese receptions when you are done work. I loved seeing him at parties and hearing of his summers back home, I've missed Meredith very much too. The last few years we would "cross paths" on the bus as I was coming up the mtn and he was going to Alta but we always took a moment to chat . I remember seeing him sking at Alta last year and I thought I should follow him down the slope 'just in case' but he was smooth as can be, and then to the lodge for a break, always happy to see friends. My condolences to all the family.

I was sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I have some great memories of buying peanuts at Costco so he could feed those to the Stellar Jays and how he wanted us all to see the tree that he had planted for your mom over by the bypass road. I didn't see him as much because he started skiing Alta and so he didn't always come into the Cliff but he always had a hello for me. We will miss him.

Dear Greg and Amy, It is with great sorrow that I have just taken the news of Jim's passing. My heartfelt condolences to you both and the rest of the family. Jim's presence at the lodge and in the canyon will be so sorely missed. Jimmy had unsurpassed passion for skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon and being a member of the Lodge community. He helped so many new guests to Snowbird find their way around the area and the village - his generosity to share information and his time with these people cannot possibly be replaced. I cannot imagine a wine reception without his cheery presence. We must somehow regroup and carry his spirit forward. With heavy heart, my very best, Peter

I am truly saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him the past 7 years while I worked at The Lodge at Snowbird. I looked forward to seeing him each morning to give him his paper and chat about the ski conditions and what he was up to that day. I enjoyed keeping in touch with him through the Summer months hearing of his traveling adventures. I will miss him and offer my sincerest condolences to the Brown family.

Greg, Amy and kids. It is with great sorrow that I read about Jim's death. I spent many early mornings at Snowbird reading the paper next to and with Jimmy by the 4th floor fireplace. We always had great conversations. He treated my kids as if they were family. We will miss Jim.
Funny story: a friend was in your neck of the woods with his antique boat and went into a bar and started talking with Jim. Jim asked where he was from and he said MN. To that Jim responded that he had friends that lived on Lake Minnetonka and described my parents, Dave and Sheila. I had told Steve to be on the lookout for Jim during the boat show and its events. Steve's response to Jim's comment about my folks: you must be the infamous Jimmy Brown, Steve also met Jim when he came to MN for the antique boat show a few years ago. You dad was known far and wide, It was my pleasure to call him a friend.

I'm sorry to hear that Jim has passed. I worked at the Lodge @ Snowbird for the last 13 years and got to know him very well. We had some great conversations about skiing over the years. He was very passionate about the snow conditions and I will miss talking with him. The first time I met him I said " hello Mr. Brown" and he replied " my names Jim. The last time they called me Mr. Brown was the day I retired" I will never forgot that and both of the Brown's were very passionate, sincere friends of mine. RIP Jim
