I bowled in the Wednesday afternoon ladies league and was pleased to know Jan as a quiet polite woman and she did love her orangemen. I was shocked to hear of her passing. my sincere sympathy to the family.

Sometime after either 8th or 9th grade, Janis convinced me to join the VFW Marching Band with her. She gave me fast sax lessons; we were to be paid for each parade we marched in. They drove us in buses all over the state. Our marching band uniforms got so grubby we looked like we were the ones who had fought in a war. At the end of a very long summer, we lined up to be paid: in each of our envelopes was $9. $9 for marching all summer long. We didn't care, because we had been having fun together.
Years later we ran into each other again at Home Care For Cortland County. She always tried to persuade me to switch over to her side of the program. I stayed at Home Care, but it was so nice to see her there. It was good to see her doing something she truly believed in. What a great girl!
In Deepest Sympathy

To Jo, and Janis' family, just want you all to know how very sorry I am for your loss. Got to know Janis thru our Cortland Senior Center and how she enjoyed doing afternoon shuffle board and also Wii bowling. She also enjoyed the Thur night dinner's and cards afterwards. She always came in with a book in hand usually about dogs or history of NY State. She will be missed by you all but you also all have some very fond memories to help carry you thru this difficult time.

Janis was my boss when I worked at Cortland County Home Care as a parent aide. She inspired me with her love for children. She fought to be sure each child in her case load was given a voice to be heard. She was an amazing boss and became a valued friend. She has definitely earned a place in heaven. I wiss miss your fighting spirit and friendly smile.
