Obituary of Florence M. Blanchard

Florence M. Blanchard 95, of Cortland passed away on January 9, 2017 at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 25, 1921 in Locke, NY a daughter of the late Howard and Ada Slocum Wood. Florence was employed as an Accountant for Eisenhower College. She was an avid Quilter, member of Thumbstall Quilters and American Legion Auxiliary. She was married to the late Nelson J. Blanchard, he passed away in August of 2015. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Janet. Florence is survived by her son, James L (Trish) Blanchard, Alabama, one daughter Joan (John) Ohlweiler, New Jersey, one brother, Raymond (Pris) Wood, Auburn, two sisters, Louise Dewey, Clinton, Ruth McLoughlin, Auburn, four grandchildren, John (Lisa) Ohlweiler, Julie Hammer, Jane (Matt) Gargett, six great grandchildren, Cady Hammer, Morgan Hammer, Abigail Ohlweiler, John Ohlweiler, Benjamin Ohlweiler, Brennan Gargett, as well as several nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Groton Cemetery and announced at a later date. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
