Dear Ernie and the Southworth family,
My deepest condolences to you! Eva was so special to me, I can't even begin to imagine not receiving her Christmas card or seeing her smiling face! Eva and I had many a treasured day as we worked at Cortland Jr. Sr. High School, life at work was never the same after she retired!
One of my fondest memories of her will be her hospitality at your home--priceless!!! You will never know how much I needed both of you the times you so graciously invited me into your home for dinner! I will always remember your stuffed peppers and Eva's meatballs, which I "try" to duplicate every Christmas in her honor! As my Lydia has grown up hearing the story of Eva and Ernie, I will always cherish her signature knitted stocking, a wonderful gift!
Eva spread love, kindness, generosity, and sweetness wherever she went!! She was an angel and I know she will remain in my heart forever!! May her love carry you (us) onward and bring you peace!

Words cannot express my sorrow at the loss of this wonderful woman. Aunt Eva was more than an aunt. She was my friend and I could tell her anything. From the time I was a child I loved being with her. I remember staying with her when she was a young woman living with her parents on Owego St. Generous to a fault, there was nothing she wouldn't do for you. i will miss her terribly for the rest of my life.
My deepest prayers go out to Uncle Ernie, who she was dedicated to , and her children and grandchildren whose lives she touched in a special way.

Laurel and I are so deeply shocked and saddened by Eva's sudden passing. Such a dear sweet and kind lady to all whose paths she crossed. I dearly loved hearing her stories about working with my uncle, Morris Fitts, back in his early days of practicing law. Her memory was remarkable, but that should have been no surprise to me, as it turned out she was remarkable! Our hearts especially hurt for Ernie and we dearly wish our thoughts and prayers could lift him, and the family, in the days and months ahead. Ernie and family. I am so sorry to hear this. Eva was a lovely lady. I have somewhat of a personal interest in that she was my very first date in high school. We went to a movie and, as I remember, walked her home on Thompkins Street. I was extremely nervous. I would try to talk to her but words just wouldn't come out. She knew and I'll never forget her smile and what she said, "Francis, it's only a date and I'm only a girl. Don't be so nervous." At that moment, she was part of my life's learning.
