Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley (Bailey) Levan, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Cortland Regional Nursing Facility surrounded by people who loved her.
Shirley was born in Williamsport, PA on November 16, 1929 to Edna (Leonard) and Leland Bailey.
Shirley is survived by her son, Dennis Levan, of Cortland, NY. Shirley dedicated her life to tirelessly caring for Dennis after he was injured in a car accident in 1977.
Shirley often reminisced about being a child and how much she loved school and recess. She was especially proud of how much she was like her mother.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her 3 brothers (Jack, George and Robert) and 4 sisters (Lurena, Isabel, Phyllis, and Beverly). She was also predeceased by her close friend, Rev. Helen Randall.
In addition to her son, Dennis, Shirley is survived by many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews…. too many to list. She is also survived by her 'adopted family' the Boyce family.
Years ago she was the Sunday School teacher for the Church of Light in Scott, NY. She taught many children and orchestrated phenomenal Christmas plays. She was loved by all the Boyce, Knapp, Davis, and many other children in the neighborhood that she would look after during summers, weekends, and after school so their parents could work without worry.
