Obituary of Jean M. Ostrander

Jean M. Ostrander, 89, of Homer NY, passed away January 21, 2017 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1927 in Elmira NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Egeria Robinson Armstrong. Jean attended school in Dryden and Homer before working for Fishman's Five and Dime. She then took employment with Smith Corona corp. for twenty two years retiring in 1987. Over the years she had attended Homer Methodist and Scott Methodist Church's. She had also volunteered with the Cortland Regional Medical Center coffee shop. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and taking walks with her family and dogs. She is survived by her son James Ostrander, her grandsons Shaun (April) & Ryan Ostrander, great grandchildren Alexis and Ryan, her sister Margaret Ostrander, her brother Raymond Armstrong, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence Ostrander, her son Michael Ostrander, her siblings Betty Jensen, George and Edward Armstrong, and Louise Van Horn. A calling hour will be held Thursday 2:30-4 pm with a funeral service to begin 4pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY 13045, with Rev. John Aukema presiding. Spring burial will be at the Atwater Cemetery, Homer NY.
