Obituary of Kay K. Drake

Kay K. Drake, 66, of Cortland passed away January 25, 2017 at SUNY Upstate Hospital, Syracuse. She was born October 17, 1950 in Sunbury, PA, the daughter of the late Woodrow and Catherine Brosious Klinger. Kay was raised and educated in Northumberland, PA graduating from Shikellamy High School. She then went on to Bloomsburg University where she received her bachelor's degree and met her future husband Ken. She then attended Elmira University where she received her master's degree. Kay was a longtime English teacher at Homer High School retiring in 2015. She enjoyed watching sports particularly tennis, volleyball and the Yankees. Her greatest joy was spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Kenneth R. Drake, her sons Kenneth M. Drake, Robert M. Drake, her daughter Cheri (Jason) Olson, her brother Woodrow Klinger, her sisters Sandra (Blaine) Shaffer, Dorothea (Thomas) Rauch, her grandchildren Kayci, Riley, and Jozie, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours are Friday February 3rd, from 4-6 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY.
