Dr. Milo Elihu Thompson, Jr. of Cortland, NY entered his heavenly home on April 1, 2017 after a brief battle with a lung condition. He was the son of Milo and Helen (MacDonald) Thompson of South Otselic, NY and was born in Cooperstown, NY on December 17, 1934. He pastored six churches in the states of New York and Pennsylvania and more recently helped to consult with many pastors and churches through ChristWay Ministries, which he founded. He received a doctorate of ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Elgin IL, and served as president of Baptist Bible College and Seminary (Clarks Summit University, Clarks Summit, PA) for 15 years. He travelled extensively, both here and abroad, sharing his passion for being culturally relevant in sharing about the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Milo is survived by his wife of six years, Jackie (Ullman Parker) Thompson; children Susan (David) Hubble, Debbie (Rick) Merkel, Daniel (Debra) Thompson, Carol (Rick) Ferrari, Steve (Julie) Thompson, David (MengWei) Thompson, Tim (Rhiannon) Thompson, Julie Parker, Lynnette (Rick) Villnave, Chad (Rachel) Parker, and Casey (Jen) Parker; and brothers James (Marge) Thompson and William (Cindy) Thompson. He is loved greatly by 30 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Beverly (Brown) Thompson, March 31, 2010.
A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Christian Fellowship (1250 Fisher Ave, Cortland) on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 3pm. Calling hours will be held from 1-3pm before the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent to Camp BaYouCa (100 Camp Spaulding Rd, Smithville Flats NY 13841). A private burial will be held in South Otselic, NY.
