Linda J. Homer, 79, of Cortland passed away on May 1, 2017 at Cortland Regional Medical Center with her daughter by her side. She was born June 14, 1937, in Cortland, NY a daughter of the late Darrell and Leah Wildman Hall, Sr.
Linda was educated in McGraw and graduated from McGraw High School, Class of 1956. She retired from Cortland Line Company in 2013. Linda was an avid golfer, and golfed in four local golf leagues: Monday at Willowbrook Golf Course; Tuesday at Knickerbocker Country Club; Wednesday at Elm Tree Morning Doves; and Thursday in the Seven Valley Golf League. She was an avid bowler, and bowled in three local bowling leagues: Monday night at Cort Lanes, Wednesday afternoon in the Merry Wives at Cort Lanes; and Thursday at Cort Lanes. Linda was a volunteer at the CNY Living History Museum. She was also a multiple medal winner in bowling and golf in the Emipre State Senior Games. Linda always looked forward to and enjoyed her biennial trips to Disney World, Orlando, Florida with her daughter Ann. She was a member of Cortland American Legion Ladies Auxillary, and a former member of the Moose and Elks Clubs.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Ann L. Homer, Cortland; two brothers, Richard Hall, Kingston, NY, Alton Hall, Cortland; one sister, Lora Hall, Solon. NY; her favorite cat Muffin, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Darrell and Leah Hall; husband, Earle "Butch" Homer; four brothers, Stanley, Ronald, Leroy, and Darrell Hall Jr. and four sisters, Betty Wild, Shirley Bilodeau, Doris Potter, and Diane McKane.
Calling hours will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Terry B. Hall, nephew of the decease, officiating. Burial will follow in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
