Obituary of Winfried Scholl-Hess

Winfried J. Scholl-Hess, 63, of Fulton NY, passed away on July 7, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
Winn was born on January 20, 1954 in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of David W. Hess and Annemarie "Seidemann" Hess.
He was a graduate of Homer High School and then went on to study at Auburn Community College. Following his time at Auburn, Winn went on to Lenoir- Rhyne University and finally the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, earning a bachelors and master's degree. Winn worked for many years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the visually impaired in Syracuse, NY. In his free time, Winn enjoyed sailing, kayaking, spending time at his Oneida Lake camp, and most recently riding his new three wheeler. Winn also enjoyed listening to music and had a wide variety of cookbooks in his kitchen.
Winn is survived by his two children; Nathan Scholl-Hess of Syracuse and Elizabeth Scholl- Hess of Albany, parents; David and Annmarie Hess of Homer, brothers; Thomas "TJ" Hess of Homer, Christopher Hess of Texas, Paul (Maureen) Hess of Homer, and Philip Hess of Homer, sisters; Beatrice (William) Duncan of Cortland, Felicia (John) Evans, of Cortland and Marita (James) Linnstaedter of Texas. In addition, Winn is survived by a special friend, Deb Saunders of Fulton, NY.
Winn was predeceased by his sister Kathryn Canfield in 2010.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 6-8pm, at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., Cortland, NY. Funeral services will take place on Friday July 14th at the funeral home at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland.
