Obituary of Patricia N. Wanish

Patricia Stepien Wanish, 68 of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on July 6, 2017 at home after an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1948 in Syracuse, NY. The daughter of the late Adam and Marian Laratta Nigro.

Patricia was a graduate of Liverpool High School. She went to work for the National Saftey Council of Syracuse as a secretary. Her next position was with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. of Frederick, Maryland for several years. She then went to work as the Secretary to the CEO of Coast RTA in S. Carolina. Her last position was with the Cortland Regional Medical Center as an Administrative Asst.  for Team Health until her retirement in 2012.  

Patricia is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Charles Wanish Jr., son; Daniel Stepien Jr. of N. Syracuse, step-son; Brandon Wanish of Stafford, VA , daughter; Melissa Stepien of California, step -daughter; Stacey (Wildredo) Wanish-Sifuentes of Virginia Beach, VA, sisters; Joanne (Roger) Hagan of Dewitt, NY, and Carol Day of Frederick, Maryland, grandchildren; Ryan and Noah Stepien, Step-grandson; Luka Sifuentes, 2 nephews, 3 nieces and her beloved dog Sasha. 

Patricia was predeceased by her Step daughter Lindsey Wanish in 2007.

Friends are invited to call on  Thursday from 6-9pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, NY. A Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Cortland Rural Cemetery mausoleum. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
