Obituary of Kathryn Randall

Kathryn "Katy" O'Mara Randall, 82, of Cortland, passed away on November 16, 2017 at the Cortland Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Katy was born on December 8, 1934 in Cortland, the daughter of the late Cornelius O'Mara and Catherine Byrnes O'Mara. She was raised and educated locally in Cortland and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. Katy married her husband Robert Randall on March 7, 1970. She worked at the Crescent Corset, as a data entry clerk, then later worked with Cortland County. Katy was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, and the biggest fan of her nephews' bar, Paddy's Pub. She was certainly proud to be Irish. Katy enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. Katy had a beautiful and unique collection of china and glassware that she was quite proud of. She enjoyed camping, going to the Adirondacks, and even hiked to the top of Bald Mountain.

She is survived by her sisters, Patricia O'Mara of Cortland, Ann Stevens of Canastota, Sheila (Larry) Mastin of Rochester, sister-in-law Beatrice O'Mara of Cortland and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Katy is also survived by her best friends, Christina Aloi and Cindy Russell.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Robert in 1997, brothers Cornelius Joseph O'Mara Jr., James O'Mara, Edward (Gowena) O'Mara; sister, Mary O'Mara, and brother-in-law, Glenn Stevens.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11am at St. Mary's Church of Cortland. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Cortland.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Cortland Park for the wonderful care the extended to Katy.
