Shirley Bloodgood, 83, of Cortland NY, passed away July 5, 2012 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born August 31, 1928 in Truxton, the daughter of the late Ralph and Blanche Stone Griffin.
Mrs. Bloodgood was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Truxton High School. She was a longtime communicant of St. Marys Church, Cortland. Shirley retired from Cortland Line Co. after several years of employment. Shirley was very family oriented, with her husband, children, and grandchildren being her main focus. She took great pride in maintaining her home.
She is survived by her sons John Jack Bloodgood of Canastota, Thomas Tom(Libby) Bloodgood of Watkins Glen, her daughters Teresa Terri (David) Dovi of Cortland, Karen (David) Crandall of Cortland, her grandchildren, Patrick (Shawna) Bloodgood, Tim (Anna), Hannah, Lisa, Katie, and Christopher Dovi, John, Benjamin, and Jesse Bloodgood, Alexis Crandall, great granddaughter Skylar Bloodgood, her brothers William, Donald (Mickey), Gerald (Barbara), Robert, Richard (Sharon) Griffin,nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 59 yrs. John Bloodgood February 17, 2012, granddaughter Nicole Crandall,and her parents Ralph and Blanche Griffin.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday 9:30 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated 10 am at St. Marys Church, Cortland. Burial will follow at the St. Marys Cemetery, Cortland NY.
