Irene E. Carman, 102, formerly of Dresserville/Cortland passed away January 16, 2018 at Beechtree Care Center, Ithaca NY. She was born December 28, 1915 in Epharata PA, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Zuck Eshleman. Irene was a lifelong resident of the area. She had been employed with Crescent Corset in Moravia and with Smith Corona retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Dresserville Bible Baptist Church and most recently attended the Brooktondale Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and puzzles. She is survived by her daughters Betty Jean (Douglas) Boyce, Joyce Erickson, her brothers Paul Eshleman and Arthur Eshleman, her sister Ruth VanCamp, four grandchildren David, Jonathan, Rebecca, and Rachel, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband Ernest Carman, her siblings Walter, Lincoln, Harold, Edna, and Naomi. A calling hour will be held Tuesday 1-2pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Spring burial will be at the Lisle Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Brooktondale Baptist Church, PO Box 144, Brooktondale NY, 14817.
