Obituary of Ronald Ron Kaussner

Ronald "Ron" Kaussner, 71, of Freeville passed away March 1, 2018 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1946 in Cortland the son of the late Roland and Marion Uhl Kaussner.
Ron graduated from Cortland High School, then enlisted in the Air Force where he served from 1966-1970. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Oswego and his Master's Degree from the University of Missouri. He began his career in Residential Services as Complex Coordinator at SUNY Cortland. From there he served as Assistant Director of Residential Life at the University of Puget Sound, Assistant Dean of Programs at University of Maine-Orono, Residential Life Community Developer and Staff Trainer at Cornell University, and Director of Counseling Services at New York Chiropractic College where also served as Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology.
He is survived by his sister Karen Thompson (Paul) of Cortland, his brother Robert Kaussner of Ithaca NY, his niece Lisa Law (Daniel) of Fayetteville NY, his nephew Kevin Thompson of Seattle Wash., his Aunt Florence Durkee Telecsan, several cousins, a great niece and nephew.
Ron was a gentle and kind man who had a smile for everyone. He had a generous spirit and spent a great deal of time helping others. He belonged to many professional organizations in his filed. He will be sorely missed.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 10:30 am – 12 noon with a memorial service to begin 12 noon led by Deacon Stephen Smith. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
