Richard G. Lorows Sr, 75 of Cortland passed away June 25, 2012 in the VA Hospital Syracuse, NY
Dick was born October 18, 1936 in Greene, NY the son of the late Gerald and Frances Lawrence Lorows. he served his country with the US Air Force from 1955-1961.
Dick was a member of the New Apostolic Church, the American Legion Post 489, and had been employed at Suit Kote.
After retiring from Suit Kote, Dick became an active volunteer at Cortland Regional Medical Center acquiring 14,000 Hours. He enjoyed playing Santa, an Elf, and the Easter Bunny for many organizations. His memberships included the American Legion, RSVP, SPCA, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, Homes for the Elderly, and the Cortland Sr. Center.
Dick is survived by his wife of 46 Yrs Sheila Lorows, his children Charles (Kathy) Lorows, James Lorows, Michael Roundy, joseph Roundy, Jeffrey Roundy ,
Debra (Steve) Mason, Sharon Andrus , his brother Larry (Ada) Lorows, sister Nancy (Dick) Hartford, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Dick was predeceased by his son Richard Lorows Jr,
Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 4 €“ 7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
The family invites all friends to join them for a celebration of Dicks life at 12:00pm Saturday at the Cortland American Legion on Tompkins St.

Dick was a wonderful man who always brought a smile to my f\ace and we always had a great conversation! He loved to visit all his friends at Elizabeth Brewster House. Dick would make our holiday party a blast playing Santa for our residents as well as our staff and he always made us laugh. He will be deeply missed. Our condolences goes out to Dick's family. On behalf of all the residents, family members and staff from the Cortland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, who Dick faithfully served as a volunteer for well over a decade, we all offer our sincerest condolences.
