Liliana Rennus, Liliana Nieves Ponce de Leon, 87, passed away March 13, 2018, at Crown Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, New York. Liliana was born August 5, 1930, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to Enna Bernard and Rafael Ponce de Leon. Liliana attended primary school in Santo Domingo and finished Hostos Junior High, graduating from Padre Billini Escuela Superior in June 1954. Liliana was predeceased by her husband William Rennus in June 1964, in Brentwood, Long Island. Liliana became a United States Citizen in May, 1971, and six years later became a mother to Lorelei Rennus. Liliana moved from Long Island to Cortland County with immediate family in August, 1999, later residing in McDonough, New York. In 2016, Liliana moved to Crown Nursing Facility where she was adored by all.
Liliana worked as a housewife in her early years and as a caregiver in the years after. She divorced but kept the last name Rennus. Liliana loved entertaining her friends and family by hosting family gatherings during the holidays and on birthdays. Liliana was an avid gardener and could make just about anything grow and flourish.
Liliana is survived by her daughter Lorelei (William Velez) Rennus-Rosero, her life partner William Mackey, and her grandchildren Jerelol A. Rosero and Lilyhanna F. Velez.
