Peter Alteri Sr. 77, of Cortland passed away June 22, 2012 in Cortland Regional Medical Center with his family at his side. Peter was born September 8, 1934 in Morola, Italy the son of the late Frank and Angeline Costanini Alteri. Peter was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church and had been employed by Compagnini Construction, and retired from PS Griswold Construction Company, he was a member of the Homer Elks club. Peter is survived by his wife Joyce Partigianoni Alteri of Cortland, his sons: Peter (Lori) Alteri Jr, and Paul (Anna) Alteri of Cortland, his grandchildren Nicholas, Rebecca, and Jonathan, his sisters josephine (Gene) Mironti of Cortland, and Connie Mangano of Syracuse, several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Anthonys Church 50 Pomeroy St. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Marys Cemetery Cortland. Every year since I've been too old to play that game, I always think of Pete on the 4th of July, and all the wonderful summer days on DeRuyter Lake. So sorry for your loss. Pete and I picked beans during the summer, before we could get a real job.During high school we were on the gymnastics team,Pete was so strong he could do things on the rings no one in our section could do. Admin. would call my house and my Grandmother would answer in Italian "Bobbie in school" Pete knew better, as president of our senior class, he called my Grandma. When he saw me up town he told me I had better get back in school if i wanted to graduate. Pete was a great guy and friend. Once again please accept my condolence.
