Obituary of Barbara Stillwell-Lucas

No words can describe the loss felt for one of God's beautiful creations: Barbara Stillwell-Lucas lost her battle with cancer on Easter morning. She is predeceased by husband(s) Roy Stillwell and Robert Lucas and is survived by her devoted children Doreen (Connolly), Rebecca and Duane. Barbara had 3 grandchildren, Al, Megan and Evan and 3 granddogs, Loki, Odin and Layla. She is also survived by her brothers Joe and Ralph, numerous nieces, nephews and step-children. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Central New York. She worked as an account clerk with the Cortland County DSS for over 20 years, retiring in 2007. She was an active board member of the Cortland Senior Center. She also enjoyed shuffleboard, lunches and trips with her friends. Her sharp card skills will surely be missed, as she was a sought after partner for many years. Barbara loved brightening others' days in her gentle and generous way, such as delivering homemade cookies or knitting blankets, hats and scarves for those who needed them. Arrangements were made by Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Barbara wished to be cremated and asked that no funeral services be held. A celebration of her life will take place at her daughter's house, 8 Randall Street, for close friends and family from 5-7 on April 13, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ovarian Cancer Research (ocrfa.org) in Barbara's name. Her bright star will live on in the hearts of those that were lucky enough to have known her.
