Obituary of Rosa Mae Young

Rosa Mae Young, 87, of The Friendship House, Cortland, passed from this life March 31, 2018 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1930, in Cortland. Rosa, the daughter of the late Jay and Flossie Williams Brown, was a lifelong resident of Cortland. She had been employed with Smith Corona and then worked as a home health aide until she retired. Rosa was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, attending social events, dancing, and taking pictures of her family and friends. She is survived by her son Colin Young, her sister Doris Jean Brown, her step children Donna Smith, Robert "Bob" (Lori) Young, Penny Young, Dennis (Alice) Young, Danny (Karin) Young, her grandchildren Alison Glezen and Stephanie Wood, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rosa was predeceased by her husband Phillip Young, and her brother Wallace Brown. A memorial service will be held Friday 1 pm with Rev. Robert Lindley presiding at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will take place at a later time at the West Hill Homer Cemetery.
