Obituary of John Michales

John Michales, 89, of Cortland passed away on April 7, 2018, at Cortland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on March 4, 1929, in Mottville, NY a son of the late George and Susanna Matejak Michales.
John served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and continued in the reserves when discharged. John started his work career at Pilot Chevrolet, Skaneateles, and then moved to Cortland where he worked at Ames Chevrolet. Then he went to work for Brockway Motors on the Assembly Line until they closed, after which he worked for Huskytown Repair Shop until he retired. John was an outdoorsman and hunter as well as an avid bowler and golfer.
John is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Cheryl) Michales, Cortland, and Gary (Sue) Michales, Cortland, one sister, Millicent Snyder, Elbridge, and four granchildren, Eric (Jennifer), Kirsten, Brent, and Chance (Bethany) Michales, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Loope Michales, his second wife, Betty Michales, two brothers, George and Stephen Michales, and two sisters, Christine Sheldon and Ann Oberlander.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 12, 11 a.m to noon followed by funeral services at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY. Burial will follow in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
