Dorothy B. Coon, 73, of Homer, NY passed away on April 25, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
She was born on November 15, 1944 in Printer, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Jake Bates and Mexie Cox Bates.
In addition to spending time with her family, Dorothy was an avid card player, especially enjoying the game of pitch. She maintained involvement at her church, The Scott United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing games on Facebook as well as playing bookworm. Dorothy loved to crochet and even made an afghan for every single one of her grandchildren. In addition, Dorothy enjoyed going to Doug's Fish Fry with her dear friend Debbie Brown. Dorothy was even involved on the local election committee.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Rodger (Connie) Coon, Ray (Karen) Coon, Delbert (Cyndi) Coon, Debra (Keith) Kabanuk, and Roxanne (Mike Zeigler) Julian; her grandchildren, Jeff, Chris, Kurt, Kevin, Jennifer, Jake, Josh, Dillon, Stephanie, Brittany, Amber, and McKenna; 34 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by son, Jerry Wildman, her loving Husband Malcom Coon, her brother Jake Bates, sister Peggy Burke and her grandson Erich.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at the funeral home at 2pm. Burial will immediately following at the Atwater Cemetery in Homer.
