Obituary of Elizabeth A. Smith

Elizabeth A. (Betty) Smith, 84, of Cortland, N.Y., passed away on June 7, 2018 at her home.
Elizabeth was born on May 28, 1934 in Culyer, N.Y. the daughter of the late Clay Ladd and Fanny Kingsbury Ladd.
Betty spent her career at Alton B. Parker School as a cook. She immensely enjoyed being around the children and even went on to volunteer at Smith School in the school nurse's office after her retirement. Volunteering was a major part of Betty's life. In addition to Smith School, she also was an RSVP volunteer. Betty participated in various activities at the Cortland Senior Center, and was an active member of their Wii bowling and shuffleboard leagues. She was also a member of the Cortland Repertory Theater Guild.
She is survived by her sons Stephen A. (Rhonda) Smith of Homer, Daniel J. Smith of Virgil; her daughter Pamela A. Smith of Cortland; grandchildren Desiree, Daniel, and Connor Smith, and Tanya Warner; and her great grandchildren, Trinity, Gaven, Brayden, Oakley, and Zane. Also important in her life was her loving dog Princess.
In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her husband Gordon A. Smith, and her son, Bryan Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from Noon to 2pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. with a service taking place at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Glenwood cemetery.
