Obituary of Kenneth Allen DeMunn

Kenneth Allen DeMunn, 82, of Cortland NY passed away on June 9, 2018 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Ken was born in Lumberg NY to the late Mary and Kenneth DeMunn. He grew up with his brother Bucky on the farm with his grandparents. After graduating high school in Binghamton NY he joined the US Army. He was very proud to serve his country as an MP from 1950-1955. While serving his country he met his wife Helga. On the completion of his Army career they settled down in Binghamton NY where he worked at Belknap Lumber until 1974. In 1974 they opened their company JTS Lumber which served the Cortland Community until 2016. Ken is survived by his wife Helga and their three children; Mary, Erich (Binhua), and Regina. He also has three grandchildren; Jared (Shelley), Rachel, and Jonathan, as well as two great grandchildren; Landan and Ciara, two step great grandchildren Nicole and Glen. Calling hours will be Saturday June 23, 2018 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm with a memorial service to begin 3 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A luncheon will follow at Uncle Louie's Restaurant, Tompkins St., Cortland NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cortland SPCA, 879 McLean Rd, Cortland NY, 13045 because of his love of dogs.
