Cynthia Sharp Matijas 80, of Homer passed away on August 11, 2018. She was born on August 31, 1937 a daughter of the late Kenneth and Bernice Lines Sharp.
Cynthia was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William Matijas, and a sister Sally (Malcolm) Allen.
Cynthia is survived by two daughters, Romney (James) Noone, Harrisburg, PA, Lauri Matijas, Annapolis, MD, three grandchildren, William (Jennifer) Noone, J.T. Noone, and Tyler Noone.
Cynthia was a life long resident of Glen Haven. Together with her husband, her early married years were spent at home rearing their daughters. Later on, she was a receptionist at Cortland YMCA until she became a teacher's assistant for BOCES of Cortland. Cynthia was most content as a homemaker, enjoying her gardens, traveling with Bill and sharing in the lives of her grandsons. She always made time for family and friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY 13045. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Scott United Methodist Church, 6816 NY-41, Homer, NY 13077. Private burial at the convenience of the family will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY.
