Donald Burhans, 78, of Summerhill passed away October 29, 2018. He was born on November 16, 1939, the son of the late Paul and Laura Bell Burhans. Don was a life long resident of the area. Don and his late wife Kathy Burhans bought their family dairy farm in 1978. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Horse Pullers Association, where he had his own team of horses. He is survived by his son Lon (Christine) Burhans, his daughters Kerry (Robert) Case Jr., Beth (Donald) Burhans Marsh Jr., his brothers Paul Charles Burhans Jr., Arden Burhans Sr., Roger Burhans, Richard Burhans, Stanley Burhans, a sister Beatrice Bubb, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Burhans, Calling hours will be Thursday November 1, 2018 11AM-12:45PM, with a funeral service to begin at 1PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045 with Reverend Tom Rofe officiating. Burial will follow at the Sand Hill Cemetery, Dresserville NY. Contributions may be made to Dresserville Bible Baptist Church, 6339 Crofoot Rd, Moravia, NY 13118.
