Obituary of Carol A. Piedigrossi

Carol A. Piedigrossi, 75, of Cortland passed away with family by her side October 31, 2018 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1943 in Spokane. Washington. Carol came to the Cortland area as a child with her family. She was raised and educated locally graduating from Cortland High School in 1961. Carol began her career with the Cortland Housing Authority in 1968. She became the Housing Authority's first Occupancy Specialist serving for over twenty eight years. Over her career she was able to assist countless low income and elderly families find affordable housing. She concluded her career in 1996 with the Tenant's Association giving her a retirement party. After retirement she helped raise her grandchildren and was able to travel with her husband. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church of Cortland. She is survived by her husband of 55 yrs. Nicola "Nick" Piedigrossi, her son Anthony "Tony" (Kim) Piedigrossi, her daughters Gina (Chris) Decker, Teresa (Raymond) Sabin, her grandchildren Andrea, Emily, Joseph, Matthew, Heather, Elizabeth, Adam and Erik. her brother Calvin (Connie) Cowen Jr., her sisters Sandra (James) Natale, Lynda (Walter) Babcock, Nancy (Kenneth) Bush, her sister and brother in law Filomena and Dante Fabrizio many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carol was predeceased by her parents Calvin and Nancy Mastronardi Cowen Sr., her brother Robert Cowen Sr., her father and mother in law Angelo and Teresa Piedigrossi. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-5 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated Monday 9:30 am at St. Anthony's Church, Pomeroy St., Cortland NY. A prayer service will be held Monday 9 am at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Burial will follow Mass at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. Contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church, Pomeroy St. 50 Pomeroy St., Cortland NY 13045.
