Robert F. Bennett 89, of Blodgett Mills passed away May 22 in Syracuse, NY with his family by his side.
Bob was born December 23, 1922 in Lansingville, the son of the late Theodore and Marie Hollenbeck Bennett.
He served his country with the US Army during WWII, and had been employed as a machinist at Smith Corona.
Bob was an avid hunter, and had been a member of the Marathon SR. Citizens; he was also a member and past president of the Virgil and Truxton Sr. Citizens, a life member of the McLean Fire Department.
Bob is survived by his wife of 10 years Virginia Heller Bennett of Blodgett Mills, his daughters Bonnie (Gary) Barrett of McLean, Nettie (Steven Randall) Frost of Cortland, Nena (Dennis) Allen of Cortland, his stepdaughter Jane (Greg) Sherwood of Egan Minnesota, his grandchildren Matthew and Mark Barrett, Keith Goodwin, Kelli Bucci, Jason and Shannon Allen, 2 step grandchildren of Minnesota, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his first wife of 54 years Marie, Brothers Chauncey W. Bennett Sr, Alton E. Bennett, sisters Gertrude and Rosie Hollenbeck
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY with the Reverend Allan J. Ferguson officiating.
Friends are invited to call from 11:00 am €“ 1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in McLean Cemetery.
