Obituary of William Joseph Hudson

William (Bill) Joseph Hudson, 72 of Cortland, NY died at home on March 2, 2019. Bill's health was compromised the last several years with lung cancer and heart disease. He was born December 31, 1946 in Cortland, NY to the late Orson and Doris Hudson. Bill grew up in Homer, NY and attended Homer High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Bill worked on the Alaskan Pipeline for several years and loved to tell stories of his adventures in Alaska. He worked for years at Smith Corona, as well as drove truck for Suit-Kote. Bill took pride in his cooking and baking. His specialty was chili and chocolate cake. He was very generous in giving away his masterpieces. Bill loved to go fishing, go camping, and have cook outs with his family and friends. His greatest joys were his children and grandkids. Bill is survived by his daughters, Heather Hudson and Billie Jo Hudson of Cortland and son Jason Hudson of Cortland. Bill is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth (Gary) Winther of Bridgeport and Gale (Jim) Grummons of Wellesley Island, several nieces and nephews and lifelong friend Marna Hudson. Bill is predeceased by his brother Dale Hudson. A memorial service will be held 2:00-3:00 PM on Monday, March 11th at Wright Beard Funeral Home, Inc, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY
