Obituary of James R. Aldrich

James R. Aldrich, 60, of Cortland passed away unexpectedly on April 4th. He is remembered as a loving and dedicated Dad and adoring "Papi" as he is survived by his daughter Danielle Aldrich Petrella (Cody)and his three grandchildren Victoria, (Tori's Garden Market), Paul, and Emily. James is also survived by his father Murray (Stub) Aldrich and step mother Marietta Aldrich. Also left behind are his siblings Daniel Aldrich (Kathy), Kathryn Wilcox (Robert), John Aldrich (Barbara), Timothy Aldrich, Donna Taylor (Roger), Susan Bell (Dan), Mark Aldrich (Sheila), Thomas Aldrich (Jennifer), and several adoring nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his mother, Agnes VanDonsel Aldrich. James will be remembered as a great friend and wonderful father. Often seen as an active part in the community, he was known for his witty sense of humor and love for young people. He lived his life always trying to help those in need and those that others ignored. His heart was filled with acts of service for those around him, always quick to volunteer his excellent carpentry skills, a free ride, or a room to stay for those in need. However, his greatest love was spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in North Carolina. The money will be used to cover James' funeral expenses and the remainder will be donated to, "Youth with a Mission", a ministry that James had a passion for. Services will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral home on Monday, April 8th. Calling hours will be from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. with a Celebration of Life at 4:30 P.M.
