Obituary of Geraldine Donohue

Please share a memory of Geraldine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness to share that our beloved Geraldine Donohue has passed away on the evening of 4/17/19. Geraldine was the first born to Joseph and Edith Donohue. She spent her early years at home in New York City. At age 11 years old she entered the Letchworth Developmental Center and lived there for 37 years. From 1989 to 1994, Geraldine lived at Syracuse Developmental Center. She moved to Cortland in 1994 to the Starr Road Ira. Geraldine enjoyed living there, but due to her increased medical needs, she moved to McGraw IRA where she was very happy. Geraldine had a special gift that she brought to this life; for those who have had Geri as a part of their lives, know just how blessed we were to have been in her company. Geraldine was an elegant lady who had an opinion on what she wanted to wear, and how she wanted her hair styled. Geraldine loved wearing hair adornments, and very stylish hats, that complimented her outfits. This sweet, gentle, lovely, affectionate lady enjoyed spending time with those who were important to her. She was able to express when she was happy, and she would offer a kiss to those she was excited to see. Geraldine cherished her baby dolls; a favorite was named "Bobby." Geraldine is survived by her brother Robert Donohue. A calling hour will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 10-11am.
