Anthony Angelo Evangelista, 66 of Homer passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on June 7, 2019 at his residence. He was born on July 7, 1952 the son of the late Alexander and Mary Catalano Evangelista. Anthony proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. He retired from the City of Cortland where he worked for many years with the DPW. Anthony was an avid fisherman and hunter and truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #377. Anthony is survived by his wife, Darlene, one son, Dana (Jennifer) Evangelista, three daughters, Dina (Jason) Kristof, Angela (Joseph) Knapp, Annette (Chris) Frisbie, one brother, Frank (Anna) Evangelista, two sisters, Marie Kniffen, Marianne Evangelista, sister-in-law, Bonnie Evangelista, brother-in-law, Duane Sims, sister-in-law Debra (Herbie) Gardner, sister-in-law Brenda Lyon, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Alexander Evangelista, brother-in-law, Richard Kniffen, brother-in-law Darrell Lyon, and sister-in-law Tudy Sims. Calling hours will be held 11:00am-1:00pm Wednesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, with funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. Interment will follow services at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. To offer condolences online visit www.wright-beard.com.
