Obituary of Darrell B. Gleason

Darrell (Rocky)Gleason, Sr, 92, passed away at the Syracuse VAMC on June 9, 2019. He was born on March 24, 1927 a son of Paul and Easter Bouton Gleason, he was predeceased by his sister Dolores (Dodger) Gleason. Darrell is survived by his children, Darrell Gleason, Jr, Thomas Gleason (Deanna) and Cindy Morgan (John); grandchildren Mitchell Gleason, Tanya Batzer, Tiffany Gleason, Chad Thompson (Megan), Amber Morgan, Cassandra Morgan, great grandchildren Kaiden Gleason, Austin Batzer, Ayden Morgan, Bentley Morgan and Lewis Thompson. Darrell was an avid fisherman, and was involved in many bass tournaments, retired as an electrician in the Syracuse union with many years at nine mile. Darrell was a WWII Veteran with the Navy, enlisting at the age of 17, and proud of his time in the service. Darrell was also a devout member in AA, where he had many friends. Thank you to the Veterans Medical Center for all the care and compassion shown to Darrell during his short time there. Calling hours are 5-7 PM Friday, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with a funeral service at 7 PM. Private burial will be in Virgil Cemetery.
