Obituary of Jeffrey B. Stewart

Jeffrey B. Stewart 63, of Cortland, NY passed away on July 9, 2019 at his home in Virgil. Calling hours will be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland on Saturday, July 13 from 12 pm to 3 pm Jeff was born in Plattsburgh NY to John Randall and Shirley Ryan Stewart on February 7, 1956. He graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1974 and from SUNY Cortland in 1979. Jeffrey was a Probation Officer for Cortland County for 30 years retiring as a Senior Probation Officer in 2012. Jeff was a member of the Cortland Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America for more than 20 years serving as the chapter president for a number of those years. He was an avid Bowhunter and outdoorsman. He is survived by his significant other of 33 years Robin Chernow, daughter Rebecca (Brian Widmaier) Chernow and granddaughter Pearl. Jeff is also survived by his sisters Denise (Don) Miller of Ballston Spa NY, Maureen (Bill) Cronin of West Henrietta NY and Fay (Tim) Wagner of Virginia Beach VA and brother Gerald Stewart of Auburn CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great–nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara and brother John (Randy) Stewart.
