Obituary of Charles Brown

Charles "Charlie" Brown, 68 of Henrietta, NY (formerly of Cortland, NY), passed away July 16th, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on November 16, 1950 in Bloomsburg, PA, to James and Anna Mae Brown. He married Kathryn Merritt on October 28, 1972. Charlie graduated from Homer High School in 1969 and began working at Smith Corona. In 1970, he was drafted into the US Army and served until 1971. Upon completing his service, he continued working at Smith Corona in Cortland and San Diego. Charlie also worked at ESTI and JM Murray Center until retiring in 2015 where he and Kathy moved to Henrietta, NY to be closer and spend more time with their granddaughters. Charlie was a great family man and a loving father and husband. In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his daughter Tricia Garrett (Daniel), his pride and joy granddaughters Gabriella, Alexandra and Danielle. He is also survived by brothers, Jim, Bill (Sandra) and Bob (Lynn) and his sister Nancy. Charlie was predeceased by his parents James and Anna Mae, a sister Marge, and a brother Donald. He will again be joined with his best friend Michael Bush. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday July 20th at Wright Beard Funeral Home on 9 Lincoln Avenue located in Cortland, NY 13045. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of their choice.
